Before we buy…
We are actively looking for our first LD and have a couple of leads we are working on. This will be our first RV purchase and we want to be ready to make a good decision when the time comes. If you were in our shoes what questions would you have for the seller? Who can you get to inspect the home part of a motor home? What should we watch out for?

See Home - Changing Gears . Click on the “PDI Inspection” link; the information offered is a comprehensive guide to what to look for in a (new or) used RV.

You might also use the “search” function (drop down menu under the “house” icon on the home page) on this forum to read many past posts on this topic.

Answers would be different for a 2018 than a 2003.  Can you tell us anything about the rigs you're looking at?

In general, be aware that the used RV market is quite competitive, with sellers having the upper hand on desirable rigs.  There may be a limit to that amount of time they are willing to spend with a particular buyer while they have many more waiting.

It's a tough place to be as a buyer, but that's where we are right now.

If the rig is older, please spend some time reading on these forums about unexpected problems and surprises.  Even if it seems to be in good shape, it can take $$$ to get something back on the road after some neglected maintenance.

I suspect that sounds discouraging, but I don't intend it to be.  It's just a reflection of the fact that many rigs need some updates/repairs, RVing isn't cheap, and it's a sellers market.

Best of luck,
Rich

"Don't fall in love with something that can't love you back."

First question to ask yourself is "What can I sell this for?"   If you can't ask that question need imho you need to do a bit of home work.  It's your money and I assume you worked hard for it.   Just remember all the hours you put in getting it.
