Ford Escape Hybrid
With the hope/plans of purchasing a new LD RB, my wife is looking for a new car in the future and likes the 2022 Ford Escape Hybrid. Any experience or comments on using the Ford Escape Hybrid as a toad?

We have a 2021 AWD Ford Escape Hybrid as our toad.  We have had good experience so far.
Great gas mileage for an AWD - about 37mpg, and easy to switch to "Neutral Tow Mode" for 4-down towing.  You have to leave the car powered on the keep it in neutral tow mode, so would recommend a battery charger.

We have the Blue Ox base plate and Ascent tow bar.  I was initially looking at a Roadmaster set up, but was not available at the time due to supply chain / production delays.

Rvi brake system and command center integrates our supplemental braking system, rig and toad TPMS, and Tow Car Battery system.  Rvi has had great customer service.

We also have this tow car shield  RV and Off Road - Towed Vehicle Cover, Motorhome Bra, Protect a Tow ordered from Hesperia, CA.  You just have to request extra D rings to properly attach it to the Escape, but seems to protect the car well so far.

Hope you get your LD!

I hope you can find one!  We test drove a top-line Escape Titanium hybrid yesterday. I very much liked the ergonomics, seating, etc. I was not impressed by the rather noisy engine under even gentle acceleration, and the ride was quite firm, no doubt aggravated by the low-profile tires (55 aspect). The one we drove was the only one in stock. They had added in 5 or 6 mandatory dealer add-ons (the usual sealants, door edge protectors, door handle protectors, and the like), totaling several thousand dollars. But the real kicker was the dealer markup: ten thousand dollars over MSRP!!!  You really have to want/need an Escape in these times of supply chain problems.  We walked away, and it looks like we’ll stay away for a long time to come. YMMV. — Jon
