How can I find someone to add seat belts
We are considering purchasing our first LD but it doesn't have seat belts anywhere but the cab.  I realize adding seat belts are not considered "safe" because they have not passed testing, but we would like to have the option to take extra passengers and feel it would be better then nothing.  We are thinking of putting them facing the back or front (no side seat belts) on the beds in the back.  How do we find someone who can do this for us?  Any advice would be appreciated.

This is a frequent question, with strong opinions on both sides.

See this thread:

The mid-bath models (and probably some others?) have factory installed seatbelts at the dinette and on the couches in the back.  I think the default is one seatbelt on each side, but there was an option to have more added during manufacturing.

Welcome to the LDO Neighborhood.  As you look for your first LD, what years and models do you fancy?  Look forward to hearing from you and best of luck in your search.

Hi RvForMe; My 1999 TK came with four lap belts in the back. They were standard from the factory but of course are side belts because of the available seating. They reside under the cushions, rarely seen and even less used. (normally just the two of us, and we can't keep the cats in the belts)   The Midbath 26.5 (27') would have one. or two lap belts in the forward facing seat.  No one will install belts for you because of liability issues, but you can buy belts and add them yourself.
Of course they haven't been tested! Class 'A' motorhomes haven't been tested either, and that is for the driver and passenger.   At least in a class 'C' the two front seats have been tested.  If children are going to be seated in other rear seats, the less they weigh, the better...less stress on the belts, and attaching places.  You are looking to prevent children from being thrown around the insides of the vehicle.  An advantage here is the vehicle weighs in the 6-7 ton range.
I did look at a recent 2019, and Lazy Daze did improve the mounting system for the rear dinette. More steel involved and stronger attachment locations.    RonB

I looked at a MB last month that had the dinette removed, which also removed the seat belts.   Was one of the reasons I didn’t buy it because I wanted the ability to take more than one other person occasionally.

Adding belts back in is a minefield of liability, are they strong enough to be useful in a crash?

Some will say not even the ones Lazy Daze themselves installed are good enough in a crash.

Hi Dave;  Well  "good enough"  is a moving target. Evaluation of 'risk' is up to each person.    RonB

For the MB model, seat belts may be hiding under the board below the seat cushion. You may want to lift the cushion and the cover board to check.

I don't think any LD model made since at least 1980 has had fewer than 4 seatbelts. The rear ones are hiding or removed, but if the latter, the anchor positions should still be there.
