Refrigerator Failing
We have a 2002 Lazydaze with a Dometic Royale RM3662 refrigerator. It has stopped Cooling but I still hear it running on electric and gas. With a flashlight in the back corner I do see yellow powder. So I believe the coolant is leaking. I will be taking it in to have it checked but I'm wondering if there is a reasonable chance to have it fixed or if I should just have it replaced. Any suggestions on where to buy or replace, and does it have to be an identical Dometic?  I believe it is 10 cu'?
We hit a huge bump a few days ago, also parked on hill for 20 minutes- would either of these cause leak?
We are in Deming NM, but going to Elephant Butte Monday where my cousin has her RV plus her mechanic, but any suggestions appreciated.

Do know that we should turn off our fridges when it is impossible to level the rv.  I've heard of premature failure of the fridge because of not leveling. Be interested in what the experts here say.

There have been many discussions here on the forum about this. A search should provide plenty of information to help make an informed decision when you take it to be looked at.

The yellow substance indicates that the cooling unit has probably failed.  This happens over a long period of time, not the result of 1 particular bump or parking situation.  20 years is a good long run for a RV fridge.

You can replace the cooling unit (cheaper), or replace the entire fridge (what many here recommend).

You can replace the fridge with anything that fits in the available space.  This is a fairly common situation for an older RV, and athe RV mechanic has likely handled this many times.

Thank you so much Rich for your reply as it alleviates my guilt for parking at on a hillside for even that short amount of time would not actually cause a leak. That was my thought too that 20 years was a good run.

I don't have contribution to your issue. I just wanted to say I arrive at Elephant Butte on Monday as well. If I see you, I'll say hi!
