RVlock for 2021 MB November 25, 2021, 08:32:56 pm Hi all,I wanted to change current lock to a coded RVlock, but the total lock measurements on our current 2021 MB seem to be about 5.5" x 8" and I don't see a compatible replacement on the website. Any suggestions on which RVlock would be most appropriate for our entry door for a swap out swap in replacement?Let me know if any of you have experience with this. Thanks and Happy Thanksgiving!!
Re: RVlock for 2021 MB Reply #1 – November 26, 2021, 07:34:04 am Are going to change the cab door locks? The cab doors are easy to pop open. How many RV's do you know of that have been broken into?Of course, living in southern Cal, you have more risk.

Re: RVlock for 2021 MB Reply #3 – November 26, 2021, 12:34:00 pm Hi Socalendos; There seem to be many RV 'high security' door locks to choose from: Amazon.com: Rv Door Lock Keyless Entry with Deadbolt, RV Door Lock with 2... or this: COMPACT RIGHT HAND RVLock Keyless Entry Handle â RVLock & CO, LLC . I like this one Bauer NE Bluetooth Keyless RV Entry Door Lock - Right Hand All of them retain key lock entry slots, and I bet that I could 'pick' them quickly. I think this is more of a 'convenience' item than security. As Don said, the coach doors are still vulnerable, and pretty easy to 'jimmy'. Some people put straps from door handle to door handle inside, a truck cargo tie down type, for front door entry control. Some rigs have been broken into by accessing the roof ladder and prying up the escape hatch. for entry. And of course, with many windows, any one can be broken for entry. Any of the outdoor storage compartment doors are easily opened with a CH751 'universal key'. I highly recommend that you start there, to enhance your security. Many threads exist here: CH751 Replacement Compartment Locks from Industrial Lock and Hardware Let us know how this goes for you. Re: RVlock for 2021 MB Reply #4 – November 27, 2021, 05:44:08 pm The convenience of a coded lock is nice but don’t expect any increase in security, any RV is easy to break into, not matter if it is in SoCal or Alabama. All you need is a big screwdriver or pry bar. Most RV break-ins happen when the owners are gone. When not in our LD, we leave the shades pulled down and the radio on loud enough to hear it from outside, making it difficult to determine if it is occupied or not. Most thieves are not brave enough to risk breaking in and possibly be staring down the barrel of a 9mm automatic pistol or receive a face full of bear spray. So far, this method has worked for us for decades. Never said I carry one or approve of doing so. I was referring to the possibility of a thief encountering one pointed in the wrong direction.I know from working many LDs in the past, a lot of you are well armed.Let’s end this thread’s direction, it could go south quickly.Larry 1 Likes
