His wisdom will be missed.   I was always humbled "listening" to him.

I too am very to sorry to hear of Ken's passing. Our paths first crossed at Heron Lake SP in New Mexico in October several years ago as he was working his way south for the winter, and I was on my first or second trip in my LD. We spent a pleasant late afternoon in his rig over a refreshment and chatting about things Lazy Daze. I saw him there again a couple of years later, and at Atherton Creek CG in the Tetons a few weeks before the eclipse. We also shared several PM discussions on a variety of topics over the years, often me asking for some advice, or exchanging thoughts about a LD topic. Whether for advice or just a discussion, Ken was always generous with his wisdom, well informed and thoughtful about the topic. As someone else mentioned, he was a great photographer. He occasionally sent me a picture he'd taken. The one below I'm fond of because my LD is in the foreground of this nice picture at Atherton Creek. He was very good at capturing the moment, even early in the morning. Rest peacefully Ken!

I don’t mind telling you that I cried when I read of Ken’s passing.
I first met Ken at Elephant Butte in NM in 2014 and we had a lovely visit. In 2017, I was in Grand Tetons and he posted on the LD forum that he was in the area, so I emailed him and he invited me to drive over to Atherton campground where he was staying.
While there, we visited over a couple days and he hand drew me a map of his favorite hikes in the area. Then he drove me out to one of the trails and gave me instructions on where to go while he waited for me with my dog at the trailhead. When I returned, I told him that I saw a grizzly with her 2 cubs off in the distance in a valley and he was even more excited than I was to have experienced the sighting.
He was exceptional in expressing his joy. That’s what I remember most of all.
I’m thankful that I had the good fortune of spending some time with him.

We just got back to having a cell signal and found about Ken, I knew he had various medical issues but this was a sudden, sad surprise. Like many others, I knew him through the forum and PMs, we never crossed paths on our travels.
I will miss his well-written instructional postings, he was a man of knowledge and good intentions.
RIP Ken.

"He was a natural-born teacher, and many of us learned a lot from his posts—for example, his excellent “Getting Started” primer for new RVers."

I'm very sorry to hear about Ken. I had hoped to meet him in future some winter maybe at Elephant Butte or summer in the Tetons. He had a "secret place" there in the Tetons that I wanted find out where it was.

We bought our LD two years ago, total newbies. I found it here on the forum. It was located in Portland, we lived in Ohio, and I was a little nervous about brakes and driving in the mountains so I searched past posts on the subject and this guy, "Ken in New Mexico", came up so I contacted him. He was very helpful and even made video of himself driving down a steep grade and shared it with me. Ken recommended our first camping spot at Memaloose State Park and couple other site along the way. He made sure that I knew the proper procedures for hooking up to the site electric, dumping the tanks, and how to make sure I had an air bubble in the hot water tank. I could go on and on.

Ken stayed in contact with me during the entire drive back helping me with all of the issues that came up. He was my lifeline. During that trip he told me of his idea of the "Getting Started" primer for people like me and that it would be a collaboration with others in this forum.

What a kind and giving person. So sorry we never got to meet in person. Rest in peace my friend.

Just learned of this yesterday and am very sorry to hear this. Gayle and I were just talking about Ken a couple of days ago. We met him years ago in NM at Heron Lake SP and had a few opportunities to hang out and hike together over the years. We shared an interest in science fiction. I marveled at the detailed work he put into closing off the front of the cab to help keep the interior warm in the cold. I hate to know he is no longer with us.

Andy,

We are so sad to hear Ken has passed away.  He was such an inspiration to us.   Every year we got to visit with him at South Monticello Point Campground here in New Mexico where we shared a cup of coffee with him while showed his incredible photographs.

We still remember his daily workout of running up the bluffs from the Elephant Butte shore there at S. Monticello to his campsite.

I had just sent an email asking him how he was doing when I thought to check this forum.  We will really miss him.  He left us with so many good memories and all the knowledge he shared with us on this forum.
