Cleaning Pleated Shades October 31, 2021, 05:53:02 pm "Question for the LDOF. Has anyone ever tried to clean the shades? We’d like to clean these 2009 shades. Ed"Ed, if you do a search on "cleaning pleated shades" you will find a few threads on the topic, none of which has the magic answer. The consensus seems to be hand vacuuming them for general dirt/dust build up and spot cleaning with damp cloth for spots.Chris 1 Likes
Re: Cleaning Pleated Shades Reply #1 – November 01, 2021, 02:08:18 am It’s just about imposible to clean the pleated shades and the restringing issue gets old after the third time the string breaks. On older, worn pleated shades, it becomes possible to see inside, from the outside, by getting close to the window and looking through the worn, widened holes through which the string travels. I have shown this to several women, none of which were happy to learn this. New shades were in their future.Roller shades are a better solution. Our 1983 LD came stock with them and still had the original shades when we sold it in 2002. LD switched back to roller shades in newer models, giving up the pleated shades, and their various problems, several years ago. Good riddance.Larry 7 Likes
