I need 2 tensioners for 2005 Fiamma awning
While camping recently at Lost Dutchman State Park I did something silly...  I left the campsite with my awning out on my 2005 LD 'Happy Daze' and had a wind incident that destroyed the two tensioners connected to the shock absorbers - see photos.
I contacted Fiamma and they quoted me $265 per unit, my question is are there any suggestions where I can find 2 used ones

By tensioners do you mean the folding scissor like arms on each end of the awning that unfold and straighten as the awning extends?

I have no idea of a source for used awning parts. You might do just as well to find an entire used awning.

I’d be more interested in how this happened. Did you have the center awning brace installed and was its locking screw tight? Was the awning fully extended or retracted inward so as to be extended just the length of a fully retracted center support (ie, only halfway out)?

The center support is crucial. It forms a very strong triangle together with the side of the LD and the angled awning supports on each end of the awning. The awning should never be deployed without the center support and it must be tightened so that it can’t extend on its own.

An awning halfway retracted with tightened center brace and tightened end braces is pretty wind resistant.  But one without a center brace or with one that is not tightened is an accident waiting to happen.

So sorry John and Robin, Mistakes are so costly...we have all made em, that is for sure.

I decided to always put my awning up the night or day before I break camp because I thought I had a broken part
because I could not get my awning to retract....that was a moment ....finally I was able to get the gears in gear and
roll her up. I did not want to deal with something broken while trying to start my 5 hour drive.

I just thanked my lucky stars.

Are the springs broken or the plastic inserts, inside the “shock absorber”?
The plastic inserts break and can be replaced.
