MAXXFAN Deluxe 6200K fits 2004 26.5 RK kitchen vent
I just had the unpowered kitchen vent replaced with a MAXXFAN Deluxe 6200K.  This is the kind with a built-in rain shield that folds down when the vent is closed.  I was worried that the rear edge of the rain shield would strike an upright support for the roof rail, but there's a good 8mm of clearance.

The installer was able to fish wires from the overhead ceiling light just forward of the vent, in order to power the fan.

After just a day, all I'm prepared to say about the MAXXFAN is that all functions seem to work, it moves a fair amount of air, and it doesn't make any annoying noises.

With the fan set on full blast exhaust, I measured 60 dBA at 1 meter below the fan, using the NIOSH sound level meter app on my iPhone.  For comparison, I got 67 dBA under a Fan-Tastic fan, but that was in the bath and so probably louder because of reflected sound.

"...all functions seem to work, it moves a fair amount of air, and it doesn't make any annoying noises."

That's typical! But my question is: "What took you so long?" I've got five (5) of those fans in my 30'IB and have had for years. You're going to enjoy the new fan but why stop there?   ::)

Thanks for the dBA readings, I knew the results but not the amounts.

The most annoying fan in our LD is the one above the cooktop.  Has anyone replaced that one?

Yup! Replaced it years ago with a computer 'muffin' fan. Works good and no noise.   ;D

Yes, the vent hood fan is obnoxiously noisy. Replacing it is one option, but I took a different approach with my previous Airstream: I installed an inexpensive (less than eight bucks) solid-state speed control so that I could slow it down. Either this all-in-one unit or this unit with a separate control knob will work fine, depending upon where you want to mount it. You just wire it in series with the fan, an easy job.
