Washing on the Road? August 02, 2021, 01:26:58 pm We will be making our longest trip to date this Fall (about 4 1/2 weeks). Other than keeping the windshield clean, do you experienced travelers wash your rig on the road? Or do you just not worry about it until back home? 1 Likes

Re: Washing on the Road? Reply #2 – August 02, 2021, 06:00:32 pm Depending on where I travel and how dirty the LD gets I like to give it a bath 🛁 at least once on and extended trip. Spent quite a bit of time in desert on this past trip. Plus we hit smoke/ash areas. My last stop before home was Corning Ca. 🚐 There is a TA truck wash there that Lazy Bones and I have use in the past. They do a good job for $35. It’s a bit more to wash towed but I wash that at home. 😁 4 Likes

Reply #3 – August 02, 2021, 07:18:57 pm Since I live on the road, I have taken the patina approach.I wash the rig when I've been in a particularity muddy area.Otherwise I like to see what 25 years of use is doing to a Laze Daze. You know, for scientific reasons. Since I park in a certain way, my rig looks a lot better on one side than the other.Again, part of the experiment. 6 Likes
Re: Washing on the Road? Reply #4 – August 02, 2021, 08:24:23 pm I do about one RV wash a month depending on how bad it gets here and there. Mainly look for those coin operated car washes where you do it yourself.A simple quick wash with soap at high pressure first, then brush wash and then prince with "wax" does the trick for the most part. The main thing is drying right away. I also use the turtle wax while you dry spray to make it last longer and it's great!!Total can range from $7-20 if you team up and get someone to spray while the other brushes or not. 2 Likes
Re: Washing on the Road? Reply #5 – August 03, 2021, 09:42:49 am We use a California duster and Meguiars Quick Detailer when duster does not work. Hot water and dryer sheets for bugs on front works well. Hot water with a drop of dawn or wash & wax product works well for windows and wheel rims. We also found except for the front with bugs, the remainder of the LD only gets dirty waist down and in the back easily done with Meguiars. Yes, we wash or pay to have professionals do it, but only 3 or 4 times a year. We are currently on a 3 month trip, 2 1/2 months in to it and our LD looks great. 3 Likes
Re: Washing on the Road? Reply #6 – August 03, 2021, 10:10:45 am "Other than keeping the windshield clean, do you experienced travelers wash your rig on the road?"Several times when I drove across country, I would call a private campground en route and ask them if I could wash my RV at their campground if I camped there. If they said "yes" I would stay at the campground. I bring my bucket, brush, towels, etc., with me. One time, by the time I arrived to my site after check in, they had delivered a bucket and brush to the site. When I am unable to wash the RV, I use Optimum No-Rinse Wash & Wax with Carnauba. I mix this with water in a bucket and then wash a small section at a time. Then wipe dry. Monica2017 Mid-Bath 3 Likes
