Truma tankless water heater
Does anyone want to comment on their experience with a Truma tankless water heater in the LD?

AFAIK, no one has installed a tankless heater in an LD, you can be the first. If you do so, please document it and let us know how it goes.
Installing one would involve a bit of work, rerouting the propane line, electric, and water lines.
Not sure if it is going to save a significant amount of propane. With careful use, the Factory Atwood water heater uses little propane as long as it is turned off immediately after use. We run the water heater once a day for doing dishes and showers.
The major consumer of propane is space heating.

The Truma sure looks impressive and there are lots of rave reviews on it. So much so that we are having one installed in a Tiny House being built for us.

Will keep the stock water heater in our TK though.

No experience with putting in a tankless water heater in an LD but I replaced an 6gal Atwood electric/propane in my brother in laws Jayco trailer which he lives in full time. I used a GIRARD 2GWHAM Tankless Water Heater. With this heater you also have to replace the outer door in order to match up with the heater vent. Finding the correct door was the hardest part of the conversion.

We did the conversion because the old heater had developed a leak in the inlet connection because the aluminum had corroded beyond repair. We went with the tankless because he was running out of hot water when taking a shower. Other than finding the right door the conversion was fairly easy and took about four hours. We did this last April and the heater has worked perfectly since.

If the the heater failed on our LD for some reason I would just replace it with the standard tank model. The extra cost and more complicated installation (finding the right door for the LD) for the tankless would not justify it for our situation. Not sure of the Truma door situation though.  We only use the LD for camping not for full time use so not a lot of hot water use. If we want a long shower we use the campground facility.

Was not aware of the Girard Tankless.  Will do some reading on this unit.  Thank for the reply!
