What I Saw At Dump Station July 13, 2021, 07:35:39 pm Pulled into dump station at Ridgway State Park. RV in front of me was just beginning to dump tanks. Had no hose. Simply got close to the cement hole and let her rip straight out of the dump valve. Quite the site. Used the water hose at the station to wash remaining debris down the dump hole, then left.I may be dealing with some PTSD after watching this. Didn’t know it was an option. 1 Likes
Re: What I Saw At Dump Station Reply #1 – July 13, 2021, 09:05:53 pm https://www.sos.state.co.us/CCR/GenerateRulePdf.do?ruleVersionId=410&fileName=6%20CCR%201010-9I read this through - although it specifies how sewer fitting should be accommodated at campsites, I could not see a hose requirement at the dump stations, but I could have overlooked it. I know some places may not require using a hose.Steve

Re: What I Saw At Dump Station Reply #3 – July 13, 2021, 10:05:23 pm On our Maiden Voyage in ‘15. We headed from Bryce Canyon to Zion. Needing to dump, we inquired locally and headed to the dump station.Institutions were given to pull over the steel grate and open my valves. Then rinse and proceed to fresh water station. Very rudimentary but effective. $10 fee if I recall. Quite and easy. Just don’t slip. 😫Kent 1 Likes
Re: What I Saw At Dump Station Reply #4 – July 14, 2021, 10:01:22 am I’m not wanting to hijack this topic but our experience yesterday and today kinda fits with the lack of camping “etiquette”.The two (2) campsites across from us were occupied by 8-10 people in 5 cars. During the day, their campsites looked like a tornado had blown through. At any rate, the 1st night we enjoyed their music until well past 1:00 am under the lights from their two (2) large worksite type lights. The next night the group decided to leave the park at about 12:30 am which wasn’t a quiet departure. This morning, their abandoned campsites looked like a hazardous waste site. When the Camp Host arrived he couldn’t believe what he saw. It’s going to take a long time to clean it up. I offered to help but he said he’d get help from other Camp Hosts. We have one planet and … too sad. 16 Likes
Re: What I Saw At Dump Station Reply #5 – July 15, 2021, 10:58:27 am In Europe this is common. Really not an issue if one is aware. Not something I'd do but not the worst thing I've seen at a dump site. I have watched many folk use their bare hands to handle the dumping........ Sadly most folks have no real idea of 'clean' procedure. glen 2 Likes
