Generator Choke Coil and Housing
The rear part of the choke coil housing was loose and rattling and the choke linkage arm had detached from the coil.  In the photo, you can see the silver metal piece (kind of looks like one arm of a toggle bolt).  Does anyone know what it is?  You can see that vibration has caused the metal on one of the holes to be worn through.  I'm assuming that this is the cause of the arm popping loose from the coil.  But I don't see how the system all fits together.  Also, any ideas on where to find this part number?  I can't seem to find it in an Onan parts list.  All photos show the front of the housing, but not the internals from the rear.

The broken thing is the clip that held the choke linkage to the bi-metallic coil spring. Not sure what it looked like originally or what to replace it with, having never taken this model apart before.
I just looked at our LD's generator and it has the same choke heater box, it's sealed with no obvious way to open it up without a lot of work and the chance to break something.
Googling 'carburetor linkage clips' will probably show a wide assortment of different clips, maybe one of them will work in this application.
Creative use of lightweight wire may provide a fix.
Does the coil spring have a small loop, at the outer end, where the choke linkage attaches or pushes in?

Here's a photo.  The arm goes inside the housing and turns 90 degrees for about 1/2".  The coil end piece seems to fit the 90 degree elbow exactly.  But it doesn't clip.  I'm assuming the silver piece is the clip and holds it in place.

Thanks for the search term.  It sent me to a parts manual and the piece is called a "Cover, Choke Element."  Photo below.
