Part number for Kaper II Wheel accessories lug nut
I am needing to order 2 acorn lug nut "covers" for my Kaper II wheel covers. Each of the wheel covers require 2 of these lug nuts.

I have a 2000 MB LD and presently have the LD in storage so I can not measure it.

I am going off of visual memory and the part number that looked correct L-46S. List as cover, lug nut 1 1/2" bullet, 1 1/2" tall, chrome steel.

Depending on cost, I will order a couple extra. Noted when following the LD last week there was a rotating squeaking sound and when we got to the camp site I did a walk around and noticed 2 were missing.

Would placing a regular lug nut in its place for now be advisable? If so, what size of lug nut?

Thank you, Kimberley

I assume the actual wheel lug nuts are NOT missing. They should have been torqued to spec. As far as the wheel cover nuts, as they are close to the axis of the tire, their effect on balance would be minimal if one were missing. To avoid the chance of losing the cover, it might be best to remove a wheel cover for now, and put the extra nut on the cover that is still missing one...

Careful judging what advise you might get on this one. Most folks are familiar with covers that used lug bolt extensions, but LD used covers that did not use extensions for a couple of years, 2000 included. The nuts you are looking for are different. Yours should fit on a standard lug bolt. They just barely fit on the lug bolts, which is why LD went to the other method, and why it is easy to lose them on your model. When I owned our 2000 MB, I was tempted to grind out the holes in the cover and change to lug bolt extensions, or just leave the covers off.
Good luck.

The actual wheel lug nuts are all where they should be and at proper torque.

I contacted Kaper via email and was informed that they no longer carry what I needed for my K II  wheel cover. Due to the decrease in demand they stopped placing orders to have them manufactured.

So I will figure out an alternative.

If they still carry the larger nuts designed to be used with lug bolt extenders, you might think about adding the extenders and enlarging the holes in the covers to fit them.  That's what I would do.

I was able to talk to Customer Service Representative at Kaper.
She was very helpful and we found a part that was still in production that worked.
I waited to post it ensure it fit properly.
For my 2000 LD they suggest: L-413 Combination lug nut/jam nut 9/16 18 thread, without thread relief.
The acorn is slightly bigger but it will keep my wheel covers secure.

Hope this info helps someone in the future.
