Black Water Tank May 08, 2021, 03:48:58 pm I just got a 2016 Mid Bath, the previous owner changed the toilet to compost toilet, all my family don't like it and want to change back to flush toilet and put back a black water tank. Can you recommend any resources to buy OEM black water tank? black water tank location? Or install black water tank?
Re: Black Water Tank Reply #1 – May 09, 2021, 02:28:07 am Give the Mothership a call, they may still use the same tank. You might get lucky and be able to get everything needed from LD. The MB's toilets have a somewhat complicated drain assembly, it’s going to being interesting recreating it if LD cannot provide all the parts.Wonder what was done to the original interior plumbing and mounting hardware? It might still be present.Let us know how it works out and what you can or cannot get from LD.Larry
Re: Black Water Tank Reply #2 – May 09, 2021, 08:01:47 am Larry, I seem to recall in a previous thread that the seller told the buyer that the black tank fell off. Strange.
Re: Black Water Tank Reply #3 – May 09, 2021, 10:13:36 am "Let us know how it works out and what you can or cannot get from LD."---Yes, please do report and follow up on the retrofit project. Before you consult the factory, I believe that you will need to determine what was removed and/or modified (or left in place from the original equipment) in addition to the toilet and black tank, e.g., toilet to tank piping, water lines, sprayer, etc. Without knowing just how the original system was changed to accommodate the composting toilet, and which components in addition to the black tank and toilet itself were modified or eliminated, it will be difficult for the factory to advise you.Good luck with the project.
Re: Black Water Tank Reply #4 – May 09, 2021, 10:19:46 am Since the composting toilet works, if you are a fair distance from the mothership, it might be worth arranging for them to do the work, and make a trip out of it. For them, it seems unlikely it would take more than a day or two, when they can fit you in, and they would be the best bet to replace whatever they find missing with a seamless result.Steve
Re: Black Water Tank Reply #5 – May 09, 2021, 10:40:37 am A suggestion: If the LD factory can't/won't do the retrofit or provide parts (or whatever) for some reason, you might try Leisure Coachworks in Fontana. Vince Vasquez, the former service manager at LD, works there.RV Repair Shop, Full Service in Southern California - Leisure Coachworks 1 Likes
Re: Black Water Tank Reply #6 – May 09, 2021, 05:25:58 pm Hello Wendy. I might suggest you take a picture of the area where the black tank was located and post it here. The Factory added a black tank valve brace somewhere around 2015 or so. If that brace was left intact, that would be good news. The black tank is held in place with 4 long threaded rods and two (2) long metal straps about 2” wide. Also look for the black tank sensors which were probably lost with the original black tank. However, the wires to the tank gauges in the kitchen might still be there which would make sensor installation easier.I believe my MB black tank fits nearly flush (2”) with the opening below the toilet. I’m guessing that there’s some kind of sleeve from the top of the black tank that fits into that opening. But that’s just a guess. If a picture of my black tank and dump valve would be helpful, please let me know. I hope my information doesn’t lead you astray.
Re: Black Water Tank Reply #7 – May 15, 2021, 06:33:00 pm Thank you everyone one there for giving me advices. I did call Lazy Daze Factory since I am at Southern CA, and they told me they will not do after market job and recommend one service company and parts store Arrow located at Ontario. I called the Arrow, and their service booked to July. We had planned a trip on June. So we are thinking to do by ourselves. My husband removed the compost toilet and found out the black tank still there. And now we just need install a new toilet, a new drain connected the black tank, a new valve. The platform somehow was cut a big square hole. So need rebuild the platform. I ordered the exact same vinyl flooring material from Lowe's. And waiting for delivery. I don't know how to attach a photo here, otherwise I will attach some photos before or after. 2 Likes
