Moving into a class A April 30, 2021, 01:02:38 pm The wife and I as were started planning out the next few months realized the Mid Bath was to small for us to live in full time with our two dogs. Today purchased a used 2018 Tiffin. For now our daughter will be using the LD while she finishes a post doc gig at UVA and transitions into a new job. Grad school was a long hard haul and we are glad she can enjoy the RV. I don’t know if she will join the forum. I hope she gets another job kind of soon but there is enough a break in between for her to learn the RV and have some fun. Unless I get kicked off for bad jokes and bad pictures I will stick around. If you got this far you may want to know more about the Tiffin. It is a 2018 Open Road 36 footer. It is powered by the Ford V10. 8 Likes

Re: Moving into a class A Reply #7 – April 30, 2021, 08:42:45 pm John,We also transitioned from a LD to a Tiffin for similar reasons. Ours was a 34TGA on the Ford chassis. We also enjoyed the rig, even though most of our "camping" was a Red Bay. Before they sold to Thor, I will admit they stood behind their motor homes. Our problem was with the driver side slide and the furnaces. We finally resolved the slide, mostly, and the furnace completely. The furnace was an interesting story; we spent 5 days in service bays (motor home was years out of warranty) and, after a few calls by Tiffin to Suburban, they realized they had incorrectly sized the furnace and incorrectly installed it. But, they made it good at no cost to us. You still have several years for service, but they have a new policy of no service on motor homes over 10 years old. However, there is a budding service industry of non-Tiffin shops around the factory. A lot of them are previous Tiffin employees.The 34tga was under powered, as you would expect. I also found it sufficiently heavy that the transmission wouldn't keep it slow enough going down steep grades; the engine would over rev (I suppose) and it would shift out of the lower gear I had it in. Just be aware of that and you will be ok. Also, Art's suggestion for the Tiffin RV network is a good one, we got good information there as well. The main problem though is... it's just not a LD. Re: Moving into a class A Reply #10 – May 01, 2021, 05:02:00 pm The MidMath was the right RV for us when I purchased it in 2012 after several years hanging out here and dreaming about all things Lazy Daze. But now nether of us can sit in the passenger seat for any length of time. The footwell size and heat along with both of us loosing the ability to easily climb in and out of the passenger seat. The bed in LD was tough but going to Axle Bloom Beds (my sis and bro n law found them for their Pleasure Way) would have fixed that. (About - The IDEAL SLIM Adjustable Bed for RVs & Fifth Wheelers). I did join the Tiffin website thanks. This group is such an amazing group. I learned so much. The new to RVing couple next door noticed I didn’t have a water hose attached. I explained why. Later I will put an air bubble in the water heater just to be safe, but until then I will have the water off and faucets open when the water heater is on. I’ll likely unplug during thunderstorms. I will have fun camping in the RV and it is all y’all’s fault. Thankyou! 5 Likes
