That Annoying Hehr Screen Door Slider and Paul Grinde's Accessories
After constant frustration whenever having to slide the chintzy plastic slider (which was always getting snagged or jumping off the track) for the screen door when exiting the rig, I decided that there had to be a better way.  At the Morro Bay meet, I was talking to our friends Nancy and Steve and they showed us their solution which inspired me to do something about it.  Steve’s screen door is a little different than ours but I basically copied his design. I know others have made this mod as well.  It sure is much better not having to slide that confounded plastic section!

On many LDs the end of one couch was just inside the entry door. As delivered from the factory there was no arm rest on that couch. Paul Grinde designed and fabricated and installed many 'couch rails' (poor description) for other LD owners, myself included.

That arm rest is situated so that it can be grabbed to assist a person into the coach.  ;)

I discovered the "fingertip" door opener when the picture of one featured Andy Baird's fingertip, on the former "Eureka" site. As inventive as I like to be, I also have a penchant for stealing other people's ideas- and this is one of them.

I added this to our current Class A, and it's the one improvement I show to every new visitor. On a scale of effort-to-reward, it's at the top of the heap!

Yes Greg, that was exactly my situation when I took delivery. Paul added the arm rest one time at a Caravan Club GTG and I've been a happy camper ever since. As soon as I can get LazyBones2 to take a photo I'll have her post it here.

I am very interested in the couch rails.  My wife has difficulty getting into and out of our 30IB because there isnt much to grab onto.   Does this Paul Grinde still make these and if not, can someone post photos so I can duplicate?  Thanks

Paul passed away in 2016; maybe someone who has the drawer dividers and/or some of his other woodworking projects will post photos.

Here's a diagram from website showing the door opener mod. I made mine from coat hanger wire, but it was a bit flexy. If doing over, I'd use welding rod, which may be what Paul Grinde used.

I did try using a coat hanger initially but, as you mention, it's too flimsy.  I ended up using this from Home Depot.  The 36" length allows enough to make two openers in case you screw up the first one.   ;)

If considering this upgrade, it's not as straightforward as it initially seems.  There are a couple of gotchas to consider such as: does the rod clear the main door handle when closing the screen door?; and, will the screen door nest and latch into the main door.  I had to do a bit of trial and error, and minor modification to finally make it work.

Here are photos of Paul Grinde's wonderful LD Accessories: The screen door opener, the couch stabilizer bar and the drawer utensil dividers. All were of high quality and Paul even installed them for me when I purchased them.  I don't remember how much they cost.

Yup, that's Pauls work sure enough!

But, as to that silverware drawer addition I had my own ideas. There was, and maybe still is, a Tupperware tableware tray molded our of plastic (what else) so I bought one, went to the hardware store and bought a length of 3/8ths by 3/8ths right angle aluminum stock. Fabricated two side 'slides' and attached them to the plastic tray. Just the right size, tray slides front to rear and it keeps my fine silverware in it's own little corral.  ;D   ;)

Some of Paul’s tray were like yours, a double deck with a new tray that could be either lifted out or would slide back, exposing the untensils on the lower level. Paul had seveal different trays available but nothing that would work in our 2003 23.5’ FL’s  kitchen drawers.

That’s an awning helper. The other end has a L shape hook that you put in the the loop on awning to help deploy awning and slowly put awning away. 😁
