Automatic Transfer Switch

The specifications shown on LD website mentions nothing about a new or unusual 'electrical management system'.
It does show the same electrical items and devices found on previous LDs.
So, what information do you have to share?

He's talking about the hardwired Southwire Surge Guard RV Power Protection.  Southwire's  EMS version.  This was installed starting with the 2021's.  With this the portable Surge Guard is redundant.

I was going to ask the same question. Interesting that there's no listing of a hardwired Southwire EMS on the 2021 spec sheet. (Or on the current 'Options' list.)

Todd mentioned the onboard power management as a new feature when I spoke with home recently....

I wonder why they chose Southwire instead of the better-known Progressive industries product? I have owned Southwire basic electrical tools (cutters and the like) and they were fine, but I've never heard of their RV electrical gear.

No idea how LD decided, but Southwire makes a combined ATS/Surge Protector that would probably be attractive for a manufacturer.

If so, that's a nice upgrade and will save many buyers from doing the upgrade after delivery.

As usual, LD's website is behind the times and doesn't show the new surge/voltage protection. Somethings never change.
An onboard power management system is a fancy term for a transfer switch and surge/voltage protector built into one unit.
The transfer switch already has electronic controls so it shouldn't be a big deal to add the surge and voltage protection into the package. Using the combined unit simplifies the wiring LD needs to do.
Does the surge protector have a remote read-out, if so, where is it located? Or is it a blue tooth/WiFi device that requires using a phone or tablet to interpret?

All of this is good until one part of it dies, requiring switching out of the whole unit. I dislike devices that do multiple things and require total replacement when one part of it goes bad. Perhaps the new surge protector is a modular design, such as the Progressive Industries models, and can have parts that can be switched out if bad.

Turns out Southwire bought the Surge Guard EMS product line a few years back. (Thanks for the tip, Joan!) Whether they've made improvements since then, I don't know.

I've owned both brands, and while I felt that the Progressive Industries EMS was somewhat better constructed, the hardwired Surge Guard I owned when my rig was struck by lightning in 2010 did protect everything powered by 120 VAC. I'm glad Lazy Daze has made this a standard feature.
