Shower P-trap on Midbath
I must say that I am a bit confused where the P-trap is on my mid bath. I can see water in the shower drain so I assume there’s a P-trap there, however when I go underneath the rig I can’t see one. It appears that the shower drains into the external gray water piping via a tee (see photos) but I see no evidence of a trap that’s accessible from underneath.  Your thoughts?

My thoughts say you have solved the 'is there is or is there not' a P trap question. Looks like that pipe flows into the grey tank on the lower right of your 2nd photo.

Well that’s the thing; if there wasn’t a P-trap,or something similar, in the line you wouldn’t see water in the shower drain. The water would drain down the pipe. Something is holding that water in there. I am perplexed!

In the winterizing by compressed air section of the LD manual (2002 in my case), it states to blow out the P trap in each sink - no reference to the shower drain. I'd say not to worry. If it ever clogs, a small sink plunger probably would clear it quickly.

After looking in my manual, it does mention the shower P-trap (step 14). I did not do that step when I last winterized, electing to pour the pink stuff into the P-traps instead.  It's still there.  Maybe a call to Todd is in order?  I can't imagine LD would install a trap that is not accessible.

Yep, I'd call Todd. Your photos surely don't show a P trap.

Greg in our 98~MB we did work on our driver-side rear compartment which is under the couch in the rear lounge, we extended the compartment forward under the shower to accommodate our skis which are 4" to long for the original compartment.  I seem to remember seeing a P-trap under the shower drain above the lower metal covering.   I also remember seeing soft foam on everything under there maybe as insulation and thinking on how everything is overbuilt in our LDs -not a complaint.

Greg, I think the folks at the LD factory have enough to deal with instead of calls that go like this: " Hello Vicki. Can I please speak to Todd, I have another question? Yes, it is very important. please get him for me...... Hi Todd, I just discovered there may not be a P- trap under my shower. Ah..yes, I looked under it and didn't see it there either. What's that you say? Remove the entire shower with a sledge hammer and look under the floor. Uh, but then I'll need a new shower, won't I?" Then a voice in the background is shouting...."YES, YOU NEED A COLD SHOWER AND STOP WORRYING SO MUCH!!" Then someone calmly says, Mister Harvey, if you aren't getting odors from your gray tank through the shower drain, you may rest your troubled mind because there is  P-trap in there.".

Dude, chill out already...

Funny, Steve, but I’ve decided to make this my life’s work henceforth.  I figure if anyone on this forum  knows the answer to this question (I like your Jeopardy analogy) it would be Andy B. Andy, are you out there?  As far as Todd, I figure if he has time to make a cameo in one of Josh the Flipper’s videos, surely he has time to answer a simple question from someone who actually plans on keeping their LD for awhile?  I’ll let you know what he says if I do call him. He’s my ace in the hole . . . Andy?

I am sure there is a trap.  I just filled mine with a cup of water to stop the gray tank odors from coming into the bathroom.  Santa Clara County Covid restrictions nearly shut my camping down for a year.

Looks like your will have to enter from the left rear storage and get your Gumby arms(stretch arms) out to reach it.

Oh my! Yours has a metal bottom.  My1988 is plywood covered in Automotive undercoating.

Aha!  I hadn’t looked under that side couch. Thanks so much!  Guess what I’ll be doing today?
