SOB woes
My long-time motorcycle buddy impulsively bought a brand new trailer this summer from a local dealership.  He paid extra for a bumper to bumper warranty.  He has used it twice (eight days total) in the last four months and the toilet no longer works.  (Step on the flush pedal and water does not come out to flush.)  He took it to the dealer today and the service advisor explained that toilet flush valves require regular maintenance and are therefore a "normal wear-and-tear item" and are not covered by the warranty.  They will fix it on a time and materials basis, not covered by the service agreement he paid for.

Is this a slimy industry, or what?!

This is typical of warranties. Most warranties are useless. The YouTube channel “RV Odd Couple” did a video about their warranty experience.  They found that repairs that are covered by warranty go to the end of the line for repair. The business you take your RV to will not make money doing the warranty repairs so they have no incentive to get it done. This leaves RVers in a difficult predicament because you may not know how long you will have to wait for the parts and repairs. This couple, who are full timers, waited six weeks and finally gave up and paid for parts and repairs themselves. The businesses need to make money so they are going to charge you for anything they can when they can and hope the warrantied repairs go somewhere else to get done or wait you out until you become so desperate you pay for it. Most warranties are never recouped and not worth the investment.
