Re: Jump Starter-DB Power Sale Reply #1 – January 17, 2021, 03:54:32 am Greg: it isn't a wall. If the rating says it will start a 7.2 liter, it isn't going to suddenly not start a 7.3 liter. As the engine gets bigger, the weather gets colder, the wiring connections get older or more likely your battery is getting past it't prime, then it will be harder for this 'jump' starter to do the job. You have a 6.8 liter. The compression ratio is more the problem, that's why diesels are a separate item. I have this DB power item, maybe a bit smaller. I've never needed it or tried to use it on the V10. I see that Amazon is trying to 'pack' an extra carrying case. The one mine came with is fine. High heat in the trunk is always worse for electronics and Lithium batteries. Not so bad in the interior of the MH. In a car I carry it in a cooler part inside the car, under the seat. I have routinely encountered temperatures over 135 F in summer (Temecula) inside the trunk. RonB.

I don’t remember what size the jump starter is for the Subaru but I think it was designed with smaller engines in mind. My Outback is the four cylinder version so doesn’t take much effort to turn over. Good point on the interior temps- I should probably relocate it from the cargo area to a cooler spot. These lightweight lithium jump starters sure are nice, though. Much lighter and more compact than the old ones!
