Screen Door Cross Bar Installation
I can thank the Moderators again for this easy DIY project.

Almost every time my wife or I entered our LD and pulled on the screen door we inadvertently would pull the plastic sliding door (access to the Main coach door) off of it's track.

You folks recommended this RV Screen Cross Bar by CAMCO - as an easy solution - that actually works.  And inexpensive!  $20 bucks or so delivered by Amazon.

* Suggestion:  When using a level as suggested in the instructions do so with this caveat:  Unless the RV is completely level you will be installing the Cross Bar handle in relationship to the GROUND Level Position.  I figured that I would just place a spacer block on top of the Screen Door Slider so that the Cross Bar was level with the Screen Door.

How do I know this? ...........Ha!

Be Well!

I just installed the same handle.  I did not use a level but eyed it instead.  Apparently, my eyes are slightly crooked though, ha ha!

Looks nice, Tony!

I, too, installed that same bar using a level.  Level to the ground, not the rig.  It took a bit to get used to grabbing the bar, but now I really like it.

Dumb question. I am pretty sure I have the same universal cross bar but it is a little wider than my screen door. My question is did anyone have to shorten the bar itself to fit?
Thanks in advance.

Randy, I had to cut approx. 2" off the length.  I just used a hacksaw, then filed the sharp edges smooth.

Yep!  And I cut approximately 1 3/4 off one end also, smoothing ragged bits off with a file.

Interesting there was no mention of that in the instructions.  Or the possibility of having to do it.

Cheers!

I bought and returned the Camco handle.   The 2021 doors have multiple ins and outs with only about 1/2" of flat space available to place the screws.  And behind that flat space are a couple of hollow troughs.  Each of the vertical lines in the attached picture is where the door changes planes.

In person, the bottom of the screen doesn't look dirty.  Guess some cleaning is in order.

Linda, didn’t LD update the coach door for 2021?

The door on my 2021 RB is identical to the door on my 2010 RB with the same issues of poor fit. LD says they will fix the issues we have with the door. I will refrain from additional comment until the issues are corrected.
