Pro Fill Battery Watering System New Install
Friends and Neighbors of LD

Today I installed the Pro Fill Battery System in our 2010 RB LD on the recommendations of our current/past moderators and LD owners.

Before today - I had been filling our batteries with a turkey baster and mirror.

Guarantying buster knuckles,  lots of spilled water on tops of the batteries, over/under filling, and many - many choice adjectives.

This complete Pro Fill kit (plumbing and pump) is easy and inexpensive (about $65.00 +- from Amazon) with a few additional suggestions for the DIYer.

1.  There are hundreds of 6V batteries available on the market, and the space between watering holes on each battery can be slightly different (longer/shorter) than what is supplied by Pro Fill.

2.  The hose lengths on the manifold provided by manufacturer are approximate.  The manifold is attached to the new watering caps provided.  The black hose connecting the manifold to the new caps are easy to cut to the correct lengths and push back on the manifold.  Really easy, just take your time.  Under cutting is always better than overcutting the hose lengths.

3.   Make double (triple) sure that you have fully inserted each manifold connection into each new battery cap.  (ask me how I know that).

4.   When both manifolds are assembled and tight on the battery caps you can connect the hand pump (purchased separately); put one end of the hand pump into a gallon of distilled water and squeeze the ball pump until firm.  In my case it was full in seconds.

5.  With this system in place now I WILL check the batteries more often.  It literally will take minutes for the full operation without any drama.  And I know that the cells are properly filled.  Cheap insurance when you consider how much we depend on the house batteries.

6.  Make sure the gallon jug of clear white liquid is Distilled Water.  Remember that white vinegar looks exactly the same!  Especially when you purchase vinegar by the gallon for cleaning.
(ask me how I know that)

This is a tiny example of expert advice given on this Forum.  Many of us have heard about the many products talked about on this LD Site, but hearing it from your fellow Lazy Daze family in plain talk is the BOMB.  Pro's - Cons and everything in-between.  Yes we do make the final decision, but how comforting it is to really get the right "skinny".

Thank you again my brothers and sisters for making our RV LD life a little easier.

Cheers!

This may seem like a really dumb thing but here is a little word of caution. When you disconnect the quick connect from the two hose halves, make sure the one in the gallon jug is out of the water otherwise there is a great syphon set up and your gallon of water is about to be on the floor. Guaranteed.....
