Loctite PL S40 - A New Label December 28, 2020, 11:26:14 am As many know, the Factory favors Loctite PL S40 as one of their sealants. According to Loctite customer service, that product has a new label but is exactly the same as PL S40. This is a picture of the new label sealant. Hope this is helpful.

Re: Loctite PL S40 - A New Label Reply #6 – December 28, 2020, 02:16:27 pm "I merely thought this information might be helpful to the Neighborhood."---It is helpful; I've looked right past several items whose marketing departments thought needed label changes!I think that the Loctite is what the factory uses for some applications, but I don't know specifically which. There are two other widely-used polyurethane sealants, OSI Quad and Dap; it may be worth checking the specs on each to compare all three products.https://www.ositough.com/content/dam/uac/osi/master/PDFs/TDS/quad_tds.pdfPOLYURETHANE Construction SealantI've used 5200 Fast Cure for all end cap and window frame sealing jobs; I used Dicor non-leveling lap sealant on the roof "stanchions" for the ladder and rail.https://www.3m.com/3M/en_US/company-us/all-3m-products/~/3M-Marine-Adhesive-Sealant-5200-Fast-Cure/?N=5002385+3293241048&rt=rudNon-Leveling Lap Sealants | Dicor ProductsThe 5200 has held up well; it does discolor (around the window frames), but it does not deteriorate, separate, or "gap" from the motion of the rig. (The stuff can be a PITA to deal with, but the other sealants aren't far behind in this respect!)As with many things, YMMV. 2 Likes
Re: Loctite PL S40 - A New Label Reply #7 – December 28, 2020, 03:09:03 pm 3M 5200 Fast Cure, has been my favorite polyurethane sealant since discovering it 30-years. At work, I had an underwater, 480-VAC junction box that refused to stay watertight, causing all sorts of problems.Perusing West Marine's catalogue, I found the 3M products to be very highly recommended and gave the 5200 a try and have never looked back. Failures have been extremely rare, it's superior to every other product tried before and since. It's downside (and its upside), it sticks like crazy. It is messy to work with, wear disposable gloves and old clothes when using. The 5200 doesn't breakdown and shrink the way cheaper sealants, I give it a five-star rating. Larry 4 Likes

I've been using it to caulk a refrigerator compartment, and just like 5200, it gets everywhere and is a pain to clean up. (It also stays tacky for days.)One other thing: DO NOT let your cat walk through one of these sealants! Cleaning up after that is a nightmare. 5 Likes
