Entertainment Center Removal
Hi! Just purchased a 2000 RK 26.5’ model that I’m super in love with—and moving in full time this weekend!  :-*

I bought without doing much research about the cabover, and after going through multiple forums and internet searches, all I’ve found is that converting the EC to a bed will be hard, but not entirely impossible.

I just want to find someone who has successfully converted the EC for a sleeping area. Halp!

A search of the forum will bring up dozens of posts on this topic in addition to the thread linked above. The information at this link is also worth reading:

The Lazy Daze Companion: Entertainment Center

For the final word on whether the overcab originally fitted with an entertainment center would provide a safe platform without extensive modification for one or two sleepers, the OP might want to call the factory (when they open again) before tearing into the overcab area.

As I understand it, LDs with entertainment centers in the overcab lack the structural reinforcement (present in LDs without the center) necessary to safely support adult sleepers.

As always, YMMV.
