JFK November 23, 2020, 11:41:32 am Today is the anniversary of the JFK killing ...... I was is in high school - third year. Being a rather stupid teenager I remember that there was nothing on TV (only three channels) except stuff about Mr. Kennedy. Three days - no school, no tv, nothing to do but read.......glen
Re: JFK Reply #1 – November 23, 2020, 02:16:02 pm I was in San Antonio Texas attending Air Force tech school. We were all called to the quad and they announced that President Kennedy was killed. We were dismissed for the rest of the day. It was very quiet, no one was talking. A very sad day.

Re: JFK Reply #4 – November 23, 2020, 04:40:44 pm I was an ET Instructor at Keesler AFB, Biloxi and someone passed the word to me as I was crossing a parking lot on the way to my next class.
Re: JFK Reply #5 – November 23, 2020, 04:47:05 pm I was in eighth grade in Lakeside Arizona. Class was dismissed and the whole school met around the flagpole. The Principle lowered the flag and the students sang America the Beautiful. I watched all of the news coverage for the next few days. An amazing time.Randy

Re: JFK Reply #7 – November 23, 2020, 05:00:43 pm Glen. I think you have the date of JFK's assassination incorrect. It was Nov. 22nd, 1963. Such a sad time for our nation......Steve k.

Re: JFK Reply #10 – November 23, 2020, 06:28:50 pm I often think back to that date and time. Recess 5th grade just passing the little kids sand box and the red line that separates the little kids play ground and the big kids playground. Thoughts of the moment brings me right back to that exact place and time.I’ve worked at that elementary school often and I can’t keep from remembering that moment in time. Such strong memories can be haunting. Kent 1 Likes
Re: JFK Reply #11 – November 23, 2020, 08:47:56 pm I was in my sophomore year and it very close to 11:00 when there was an announcement of the assassination. We were all told to go home. I went to my hallway locker and a girl was leaning against it crying . I didn't want to ask her to move so I just walked home. Her crying stands out in my memory of that day while the rest is largely a blur. Frank 2 Likes
Re: JFK Reply #12 – November 24, 2020, 01:15:23 am 9th grade English class when the vice-principal announced it over the intercom. My English teacher just broke down and cried at his desk. I was on the flag squad and went to lower the flag. It was being done when I got there.
Re: JFK Reply #13 – November 24, 2020, 09:58:03 am I was a senior in high school and had just returned to my next class from lunch. One of the guys said that Kennedy had been shot, but we though he was kidding. That is, until it was announced over the loud speaker.
Re: JFK Reply #14 – November 24, 2020, 07:29:08 pm Funny how we all have such very clear memories of that time. I have an absolutely clear picture of the time and place. I was walking down High Street in Columbus, Ohio on a sunny day with a classmate from Grad School (Ohio State). Someone came out from one of the stores and said that the President had been shot. We couldn't believe it but went in and heard it over the radio. We both were in shock and started to cry. Very sad day.
