Pros and Cons September 21, 2020, 01:18:05 pm What would be the pros and cons of going with a 24' TK or a 24' FD? Thank you for any information as my wife and I get closer to the new build order date.

Thank you for any information as my wife and I get closer to the new build order date. The shorter, 'Baby" Dazes are lighter to begin with, with higher CCC than the longer rigs, so overloading one takes an effort. It is more maneuverable in tight situations, such as tight trails or parking lots. It's just short enough to use spots in parking lots, being the same length as a crew-cab, full-size pickup with a 8' bed. It also fits the driveway better. Before owning an LD, w had pickups and a van, so the inside of a 22' or 23.5' looked huge to us with plenty of storage. We sleep in the overhead bunk, allowing the lounge are to stay set up overnight. We must like the short models, we have owned two over the last 25 years and 190,000 miles. They have served us well. The con side included limited sleeping positions, less storage and less overall elbow space. A lot depends on your personal preferences. You need to personally experience each floor plan to form a better opinion.Larry 1 Likes
Re: Pros and Cons Reply #2 – September 21, 2020, 03:14:46 pm You have about a year from the time you get on the waiting list until you firm up the order. So you can order today and not have to decide on the model for a year. You are in line to reserve a chassis, all are built on the same chassis.

Thank you for any information as my wife and I get closer to the new build order date.I’ve been on the waiting list since July for a 24’ TK.It’s the huge windows in the back of the 24’ TK that swayed me, looking forward to being in the middle of nowhere and enjoying the view while dining, and waking up to a glorious view of nature. I don’t care about any other possible drawbacks for 24’ TK over the 24’ FD, it’s all about the large rear window for me, greatly reduces the claustrophobic feel of an RV.There was some temptation for 27’ MB, to leave the bed up in the back, having a dinette up front, but I know too many places I love going to, that cannot be accessed in a vehicle longer than 24’. And as Larry said, 24’ is more maneuverable and does fit in normal parking spots.Think about your expected usage, and which model fits the best. While I’ve never driven a Lazy Daze before, I’ve had 18+ weeks driving a variety of lesser RVs in the past 16 years to know what I want in an RV. Saw my first Lazy Daze, in an adjacent Yellowstone campsite many years ago, loved the look and the windows. 1 Likes
Re: Pros and Cons Reply #4 – September 21, 2020, 05:58:47 pm I agree with Larry's comment that one needs to actually experience the layouts of each of the currently-available 24' LDs; looking at a one-dimensional floor plan provides only a limited "flat" view of the interior arrangements, and no views of the interior cupboard and cabinet layouts, the exterior compartment location, configuration, and accessibility, tank placements, and/or the location and configuration of the dump valves. Many times, people who have been set on one model change their minds when they do a walk-around and a "Will this work for me/us?" tour of the inside. Additionally, there are differences, inside and out, between older models of the TK and FD and the current ones; if one is ordering a new LD, these differences are moot, but if one has only an opportunity to see older TKs and FDs, savvy owners of those should be able to point out the changes that have been made. Your location isn't noted, and I don't know which models the factory has on the floor now, but if a factory visit isn't possible, I'd at least try to find a newer FD and TK and accommodating owner in your area. With the load of You Tube videos on just about every conceivable topic available online, I'm surprised that an owner of a new LD (any model) hasn't uploaded a 360° interior and exterior tour. If a tour is out there, do post a link. (Providing a "video experience" is not on the factory's radar. )YMMV, as ever. 1 Likes

Any ideas were to find a newer FD and TK accommodating owner in our area?
Re: Pros and Cons Reply #6 – September 21, 2020, 06:52:49 pm I wouldn't stress too much about picking a floor plan because you will need to live in it for a time to actually know which one is right. Then, over time, the "right one" may change for you. Just trying to muddy the waters a little.... Frank

Or if you’re in the area, Todd can meet you in their parking lot to give you what you need.

Re: Pros and Cons Reply #12 – September 21, 2020, 10:33:02 pm I found one for a 2004 FL(front lounge) which is very similar to the FD. At least you get the feel for the space. Difference is the couch in FD is on the driver's side with a two seat dinette on the passenger side. Tour starts at 6:13https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=85opU7hMkGM

Hmmm, that video was posted in May of this year so it would be on the old E450 chassis, correct? In one shot of the interior I could see a Subaru Outback out the window. This owner obviously has impeccable taste!
