Hose and Belt Replacement Recommendation
Hose and Belt Replacement

I am considering replacing all the belts and hoses on my ‘06 30ft IB.  While the rig runs just fine, I am a big proponent of preventive maintenance.  The rig has 42,000 miles on the odometer, resides uncovered in Southern California, and we always tow.

I am not looking to waste money but I am thinking that this preventive step would save me time and money in the long run as well as providing me peace of mind.  Also, because we tow, I would appreciate any other preventive maintenance tips you would suggest.

As always, this group has provided me with a wealth of information and I thank you in advance.

Not a lot of miles but still 14 years of use with a hot engine compartment in a hard working rig.   If you blew a hose and didn't get it shut down immediately that could be a disaster.   So, I vote " yes"  on the preventive maintenance .    Consider a new water pump, also.    Frank

Changing the radiator and heater hoses, along with the serpentine belt and thermostat, at ten years is a great idea, the years take their toll, along with the miles.
The multi-piece lower radiator hose has sections that are hidden and cannot be examined without removal.

While the hoses are being replaced, have your mechanic inspect the water pump, belt idlers and fan clutch, other items that wear.

Recently, I looked up the serpentine belt change interval for my 2005 Class C with the E450 chassis and 60,000 miles. It was 150,000 miles, without any age limits. I inspected it visually, and to me it looked in excellent condition over the entire belt. I decided not to change it. Is there a history of the belt failing in E450s?
