Library of Congress (LOC) collections
If you're staying 'in' a bit more these days and run short of reading/browsing material, this site may be of interest; broad category variety of digitized collections.

As ever, YMMV.

Holy Cow!  Between this and my Adobe subscription's offerings (see Matt Kloskowski's site for tutorials), I should never need to leave the house again!

This is another resource for at home reading.
Project Gutenberg is a library of over 60,000 free eBooks. Choose among free epub and Kindle eBooks, download them or read them online. You will find the world's great literature here, with focus on older works for which U.S. copyright has expired. Thousands of volunteers digitized and diligently proofread the eBooks, for enjoyment and education.

For out-of-print (rare, collectible, etc.) books, one might be interested in Abe Books:

AbeBooks | Shop for Books, Art & Collectibles

Items are sold through individual sellers; prices and book conditions vary widely. Do read the book condition description carefully, as well as the seller's ratings. I've found some real gems (well, gems to me, anyway!) at Abe!  ;)

Theresa,
Thank You!  What a great site!  The "most downloaded" page has books I would like to read!  Shelley, Stoker, Kafka, etc.  I have finally given up on finishing Walden. I was working on it at Morro Bay.   It was like wading though peanut butter.

With apologies to WhiteElk, that is more a rabbit warren  ;)

Actually, I always enjoyed that reference to my name.  Not only do I like Rabbits (especially when broiled over an open fire), I often feel as though I’m at my best when I’m exploring myriad streams of insight gleaned while following a tunnel from one book/author/genre to the next...  For example, I’ve become quite interested in the Spanish - Indigenous Peoples history from Bill Benson, who I met first on this forum and then recently in Morro Bay!  The intersection of this study with my prior literary interest - Mountain Men and the history of the American West - is quite like Warren-like.

Warren-

I wished we had more time, one on one, at the Morro Bay  gathering. I would like to tap into your knowledge of "Westward Expansion" and the fur trade.  Are you ever in backcountry San Diego County?

One might consider signing up for BookBub, Robin Reads and Kindle Buffet...many free books and many quite cheap.  As I recall with at least one of these you tick off your areas of interest and the daily offerings are somewhat tailored to your interests.

WhiteElk...currently reading Paul Theroux's "Plain of Snakes."   This is a real place in Mexico and he is traveling to and through Mexico on this particular trip and of course the indigenous peoples are a part of the story.
