Electric Fire Truck February 14, 2020, 08:46:44 am Electric fire trucks? Can an electric RV be far behind?LAFD is getting the first electric fire engine in the country - Los Angeles...
Re: Electric Fire Truck Reply #1 – February 14, 2020, 10:30:34 am Yes, electric RVs are way far off. I say this as the driver of a car with 50 miles of electric range (Honda Clarity PHEV) who does 90% of my driving as electric and really prefers the experience to driving a traditional power train.Energy density is the problem. I takes such a big, heavy, expensive battery to propel a large vehicle 200-300 miles down the road. Fire trucks and local delivery trucks don’t travel that far.My city is buying a few electric busses for local transit. They plan to charge every 30 min or so at timed stops.https://youtu.be/Hatav_RdnnoRich 2 Likes
