“Quoting” on Apple Products August 25, 2019, 07:24:32 pm When I try to “quote” a post on my iPad or iPhone, it doesn’t work. It states that it is “loading.” Apparently forever. Am I doing something wrong? Works fine on my PC using Firefox.
Re: “Quoting” on Apple Products Reply #1 – August 25, 2019, 08:23:08 pm Greg,You mean like this, “When I try to "quote" a post on my iPad or iPhone, it doesn't work. It states that it is "loading." Apparently forever. Am I doing something wrong? Works fine on my PC using Firefox.”Kent
Re: “Quoting” on Apple Products Reply #2 – August 25, 2019, 09:21:02 pm Kent,I’ve noticed it too. Greg is talking about the “Quote button at the bottom of the post that you want to reply to. Clicking that button on my Windows PC (Firefox) will take the poster’s text and put it in a box at the top of your post so that others can see what you are replying to. On my iPad (Safari) it doesn’t do anything except say Loading in the top the Safari banner. I suspect it’s a Safari thing and not an iPad thing but I don’t have a iMac or MacBook to test.John

Re: “Quoting” on Apple Products Reply #4 – August 25, 2019, 10:52:22 pm This is a product of hitting the “Quote” buttion on my iPhone. Using the “Quick Edit” button. ... notice that Chris’s comment is not to be seen. The “Quote” button works if I am on my iMac though.
Re: “Quoting” on Apple Products Reply #5 – August 25, 2019, 11:04:31 pm Yea the quote button works on my IMac but not on my IPhone X max. Didn’t work on my 6S either.
Re: “Quoting” on Apple Products Reply #6 – August 26, 2019, 09:16:29 am I use a plugin called Random User Agent -- to 'fool' trackers and 'finger printers'. Sooo this web page 'thinks' I using one on the following web browsers at this moment -- Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/77.0.3833.88 Safari/537.36. And yes the quote button works with all of them. glen

It would be nice to have the "Quote button working an my iPad but I can live with it.Quote from: colddog - August 26, 2019, 09:16:29 amI use a plugin called Random User Agent -- to 'fool' trackers and 'finger printers'. Glen, what Apple product are you using? I did a quick (shallow) dive into the code behind the button and it looks like the culprit may be a JavaScript function. I don't want to get off topic here so I'll leave it at that and report what I find to the webmaster.John
