Andrea Karrow's Passing - Member 3040 of Past Tents
My best friend, lover, wife of 56 years and truly the kindest person I knew, Andrea Karrow passed away on Nov 1, 2019.

I've spent 71% of my life with her and it will now be so very empty without her.  I loved her very, very much.  I often told her I loved her and she replied “I know".  We spent the last four decades together, day and night and always managed to have our individual lives while together 24 hours per day.

I’m unsure that I deserved such a loving, wonderful and kind wife, but she seemed to think I was worth it.  Wasn’t I very, very lucky?

Andrea had bladder cancer and was only diagnosed this year.  She went to M.D. Anderson Cancer Center for treatment.  This is frequently described as one of the best cancer specialists in the US.  Her form of cancer was VERY aggressive and went from stage 2 at diagnosis to stage 4 at the end of her first round of chemo and radiation therapy (7 weeks).  She had just begun a new immune therapy chemo treatment, when the doctors believed she was too fragile to endure the new treatment.  She was in and out of the hospital for pneumonia and had been hospitalized 5 times in the last several months.

Andrea will be cremated and there will be no service, but we will have a Celebration Of Life.  Place and time to be named later.

Andrea and I concluded many years ago that both of our cremated remains would be mixed together along with our 2 dogs and thrown to the wind in her favorite national park.  A double urn for Andrea will be kept on our dinette table until it is needed for me.

Now I’m crawling into a hole and will come out when I feel better.

Thank you,
Bob Karrow, #3040

When you hurt like you hurt, supportive words and hugs may be welcome and helpful, but they don't relieve the despair and pain.  Clearly, you had one of those special marriages that helped make life meaningful and exciting.

Please know that I will carry the memory of  Andrea and this heart-felt post for a long time.

Hugs and prayers from our family.

Dear Bob,

In our lives, we often feel blessed to have a Dear Soul enter into our lives. When the all too sudden departure of this special love occurs, the world can come crashing down upon us. Blessed are those who have been blessed with such a love as yours.

I wrote a love letter for my Mother while she was still with us. I’d be honoured if you would let me share it with you.

                  Joan's Song

In the beginning, we receive a wonderful gift - our first breath. This is when the celebration begins.

The sun rises each day to remind us of this glorious thing we call life. Celebrate the rising sun- it is a reminder of our first breath...take it and run with your life. Embrace it and hold it tightly to your breast.

The evening comes to remind us that another day of celebration is soon to arrive. Greet the evening, knowing that the day was yours to share with those around you. The day was full and it's glory will rise again.

Seize your life and tell it how much you love it. Dance with it...talk to it and let it know how much you care. It wants to know that it is loved and lived well.

Share your life. Hold not to it as a jealous lover...let others witness your joyful  companion and share it with you.

When others ask if you have loved, tell them yes. "I have loved every day and have celebrated with it".

When your last breath is taken, know that the Son rises to meet you for another day and get ready to celebrate...and others will celebrate with you.

Bob, My heart aches for your loss.

Renee and I are sorry for your loss, we will keep her memory and your sorrow in our thoughts.
We knew Andrea, finding her to be a beautiful person with a pleasing personality.
Even with her physical ailments, she liked attending LD Caravans and was well loved by the Past Tents .
