Tire Ratings
Consumer Reports just came out with tire ratings, including these for truck tires. — Jon

I can't enlarge the photo enough to clearly make out most of the listings and category ratings, but just offering a caveat based on what little I can see: the Michelin Defender is no longer made; it's a very good tire (I have these on my 2003), but it has been replaced by the Agilis, so any Defenders will be 'older stock'. Also, I didn't find a Continental light truck tire in LT225/75R/16 load range E. The Continental may be a very good tire, but if one is looking for replacement tires for one's LD, size matters.

YMMV, of course.

Related to Joan’s load range E comment, I looked up this report on consumer reports’ website and also the Firestone corporate website (CR rated a Firestone tire highest). I was unable to confirm load range (E being required for the LD application). I also noted that none of the top five tires, including the Hankooks Ford supplied with my 2019 E-450 chassis, achieved a compelling rating (highest was 72 of 100).

I’m left with more questions than clear direction after reading the report...  Fortunately, I have some time before I’ll need to replace my OEM tires.

As a member of CR I've read the tires buying guide  with careful attention.  CR states that they have NOT tested tires for a Ford E450 and therefore have no recommendation.    The take home lesson I get is to match what Ford recommends unless you can prove with facts they have no idea what they are talking about.

Glen I agree with your approach.  I suggest carefully reading how CR does their testing. I was disenchanted several decades ago when I saw they rated items for ease of use at purchase time with nothing for how long the product lasted or how well it performed years later (what I really want to know when buying appliances, etc.).  Some of their information I still would use as it does indicate long term issues (typically surveys of their customers), but I don't use their reviews as an end all like my mother did. I am careful to see the criteria of what they used to rate the products.
