How to turn on the shower head? July 21, 2019, 08:41:38 am LD friends, for the life of me, I can’t figure out how to turn on the shower head in my 89 LD.When I turn the nozzle on the head from the square to the lines, nothing comes out. Is there something else I should be doing?

Most of the more recent arrangements have a diverter which must be activated in order to redirect the water from the faucet to the shower. I do not see such a device on yours! Does the water continue to come from the faucet when you manipulate the shower head?Another thing that puzzles me is that I see no holes on the shower head face that would allow water through!!

Re: How to turn on the shower head? Reply #3 – July 21, 2019, 11:48:52 am There's usually a small knob between the hot and cold faucets; you pull it up to divert the flow to the showerhead. However, your faucet appears to lack one. You might try lifting up on the place where the shower hose exits the faucet--maybe your model uses a push-pull diverter built into that hose fitting. Just a guess. As you've noted, the showerhead itself has a rotating knob on the back that can cut off the flow, so you can use the water-saving "Navy shower" method. The knob is smooth, and its back-of-the-showerhead location makes it awkward to use when you have a head full of lather. I modified mine by adding a small plastic handle. You can read about this and other bathroom improvements to my 1985 Lazy Daze on this page.
Re: How to turn on the shower head? Reply #4 – July 21, 2019, 01:36:45 pm Your diverter to change between faucet and shower head is between the faucet handles. The lighter colored part just above the darker colored part (slightly wider spot) needs to be pulled up. In out 89 TK it needs a hard pull up.Push down for water to come out of the faucet, It moves about roughly 1/2”.Jane
Re: How to turn on the shower head? Reply #5 – July 23, 2019, 03:48:50 am Hi Jacobjm; On your picture I can't discern the pull knob, maybe on your type the whole hose moves upward to switch the flow. Your TK could have had the sink valve replaced with a valve set that didn't have the diverter function. A search of this forum 'diverter' will yield some pictures. This is a picture from that discussion: Relaqua AL-4201W White RV Tub & Shower Diverter Faucet AFAIK only the TK with a combined shower and sink has this valve. Other floorplan sinks have a separate valve set for the shower. RonB

Re: How to turn on the shower head? Reply #7 – October 25, 2019, 10:13:30 pm I had the same problem in my ‘91. Even when I was told where to pull it, the tiny piece was difficult to move and I was afraid I’d pull it off the connection and have water spraying everywhere! A friend I was camping with brought over a can of WD-40 Silicone Lubricant and soaked it. World of difference. I’d like to replace it but don’t know if that’s possible. So much to learn...
