A stray thought
Thinking about the forums I visit regularly, I realized that I read this one daily for pleasure, even though I haven't owned a Lazy daze in two years... but on the other hand, I read the Airstream forums only occasionally out of a sense of duty, even though I do own an Airstream. Nice people and all, but they're not my RVing family. You folks are. That says a lot about the quality of people here, and the quality of leadership from our excellent moderators.

Well now, Andy,

You are like the “progenitor” of this extended family. Even if you you tried to leave us, we’d be bound by blood to track you down.

Your extended family thanks you...https://youtu.be/5FLnRF5_q7Q

Besides, Andy, your HUGE store of LD knowledge and your willingness to share advice and ideas have been invaluable to all of us!  When I bought my 1997 LD in 2012, I don't know how I could have managed the confidence to get on the road solo while towing a car without your encouragement.  Later my  ignorant questions while I learned to manage everything were solved in large part by your constant nonjudgmental concern and helpfulness.  In the following years I have managed to boondock for six weeks at a time spending most winters in Mexico, and think of your wise words almost every day.  Thank you so much!  In many ways you've been better than family.

A community is what the people in the community build it.  And you Andy, went a long way toward building this one.
It's a state of mind, not something on the registration papers.   Thank you.

Thanks for the kind words, folks, but I didn't start this group, and I haven't lead it in years. Its continuing success owes much more to its members and its hard-working moderators than to me. As Joel said, it's the community that makes the difference.

I know what you mean, Andy.  We haven't owned a LD for 15 years now (dang - I can't believe that!), but I continued to read the LWALD group all those years and when Chris et al were considering a change from Yahoo we were so excited to be able to help.

It really is a community of amazing people that have become a bit of an extended virtual family over the years.  I consider myself extremely fortunate to have stumbled into it 19 years ago...
