TV
Which makes more sense, buying a 12 volt tv, or running a 'regular' TV thru a converter? I have done some research but remain somewhat confused as my calculation skills are sadly lacking.

I also understand that there are many variables.

In terms of electrical consumption, there is little difference.  In fact, my 120v Quasar pulls less electricity than did my 12v Jensen.  I have the advantage of having a whole house inverter, so I did not need a dedicated inverter for a TV, but I think the issue should be, which TV do you like best?

I note that my 24" Quasar was a challenge to fit as a replacement for the 19" Jensen.  It required careful measurements, a piece of wood the same length as the TV width to check clearances, and an adapter to fit between the TV's mounting holes and the factory's mounting arm holes.

Modern LED side or backlit LCD screens are much more efficient than the older fluorescent tube models, so that will make more difference than source of power. If you find a great model that uses wall brick that outputs 12V to the set, you might be able to wire it directly into 12V and save a bit of that resource...
