Power Cord 30 amp Inlet Upgrade - Furrion F30ITS-SS
So I got to reading about mice intrusion through the power cord and this got me to thinking about a little upgrade. I searched long and hard on here to see if I could figure out what everyone was using. I saw that the Smart Plug was the way to go but I didn't want to disturb any of the paint or the opening area.

I found a plug that looked like just the ticket so I made a template to make sure it would fit and everything looked good. So I ordered her up. It is a Furrion F30ITS-SS, I was amazed as it appears to be a work of art and best of all it fit perfectly over the original mouse hole with the spring loaded door removed and the pop rivets and screws removed.

I got a standard 30 Amp twist lock plug temporarily for my cord and I'm on the hunt for a rubber locking boot for the cord end.

To sum it up, I'm nearly in the 21st century and it looks good to boot.

Nice, Jon. And that is some clean looking '94! Do you ever take it out of the garage?

Thanks Chris, we acquired her about a year ago and I've been tinkering ever since. We aren't the over the road types, we mostly explore the mountains and right now we still have 4' of snow in places. Things will change soon, I can feel it. This past winter has given me a real respect for the Lazy Daze motor-homes and their quality and this community.

I dug the girl out the other day for the spring check out, checked everything for water leaks, electrical, propane and frig. Everything worked perfectly except for the puddle of water under the pump. New one will be here tomorrow. I've learned a few things through the years, if it isn't broken in the fall doesn't mean it will work in the spring. Couple pictures for your viewing pleasure Chris.

I do like older stuff though.

Nice job, Jon! However (and I hate to say this now that you've done all the work), there is a better alternative to the Hubbell/Marinco style twist-lock shore power inlet: SmartPlug. It has a number of advantages, including larger contact area, better locking, automatic shutoff in case of overheating (no meltdowns at the plug), and better weatherproofing. I installed one of these on my 2003 midbath, and it was a big improvement over the old-style twist-lock inlet. The drawbacks: it's more costly than the twist-lock inlets; you have to buy a new shore power cord; and at least in the version I installed, its rectangular shape left some of the LD's skin exposed, necessitating a little touch-up painting.

Andy, I hear you on the smart plug and I really researched it. I took this route because I didn't want to get involved with matching paint. Thanks for the pointer though.

The Smart Plug was installed by the factory on our 2017.
