Torn awning repair
Hey guys, the RV we are looking at has a torn awning. I was just wondering if anyone else has run into this before? Did you guys repair it, replace the fabric etc?
Thanks big time!

You could try Fiamma; I suggest calling them with the model number of the awning and asking their advice for repair or replacement of the awning fabric and anything else that may be broken.  Another choice is to replace the whole awning (if you buy the rig); this is not inexpensive, but if the awning fabric is torn, there may be other issues with the awning, e.g., the plastic winding ring, which is very susceptible to UV damage, or the arms, or the end caps, or a few other things.

Our 14 year old awning had wear spots and leaked along its seams.  We had a Fiamma F45 on our SOB Class C and just purchased the replacement fabric from the Fiamma Store(color choices are pretty good).  Not a difficult install with another persons help and a couple of ladders.  The Fiamma website has a great video on replacing the fabric.

My awning tore in a similar way but not nearly as much. Since I rarely use it anyway, I repaired it using a strip of durabond tape (same stuff used to re-seal our roof seams). It’s not real pretty, but has held up for 5 years.

Nice David, I actually ended up sewing it up with some nylon thread. It’s holding so far, we will see how long it lasts..
