Two rafters? November 14, 2024, 06:12:40 pm Hi all—our new to us 2007 Twin-king came with two rafters for the Fiamma awning. I am familiar with the one with the hooks on each end, but the one with the rubber end has me stumped. What and how is it used?
Re: Two rafters? Reply #1 – November 14, 2024, 07:08:26 pm Good question about the blunt-ended one, I have no idea but I'm sure someone here does. Our LD didn't come with one.Our 24' Front Lounge has the same 14' wide awning as your T/K, I never use the strut as it prevents the awning from being rolled up quickly in case the wind suddenly comes up. When the wind does come up, the awning is rolled in as tightly as possible until less than two feet of exposed awning remains, with the arms remaining connected to the sides of the LD. This has worked in very high winds without damage to the awning. I do this every evening before closing up for the night, it makes redeploying the awning quick and easy the next day..The awning crank is left hanging outside all the time for use if and when the wind becomes a problem, the Fiamma awnings are fragile and can be destroyed in a heartbeatLarry 3 Likes

Re: Two rafters? Reply #3 – November 17, 2024, 01:53:05 am Hi Chartrue2; Looking through the parts for an F45 awning I got this: Fiamma Magic Rafter pole for F45 F65 & Zip awnings The awning rafter has the hooks on it, and fits between the motorhome and extension bar. The one with a large curved plastic ends may be a crossbar between the folding knuckled in the extension arms meant to stiffen the awning structure if it is left out in rain/wind conditions. I don't have that second rafter, and the center rafter sits in my garage. I don't use it with my rafter. Like Larry, I fold it up against the motorhome at night, with just about one foot extension. I did have heavy winds come up once at night, and I had to drive up to a building to protect the awing, so that I could extend it enough to stow it properly. RonB 1 Likes
