Need screens for drain slots at bottom of windows. Anyone know who makes them? While some older Hehr windows had plastic drain covers, they are not used today and I have never seen a vent screen,The vent holes are already small and prone to plugging with dirt, if not regularly cleaned.A possible temporally fix, to keep the seasonal pests out, is applying tape over the vent holes, until the bug season is over.Up until now, i have never heard of anyone with with bugs entering through vent holes, there is always a first time.Larry
Re: screens for window drain holes? Reply #2 – May 06, 2019, 03:51:29 pm I've had bugs get in through the weep holes several times. It's especially a problem with stink bugs and leaf-footed bugs, which seek out shelter in crevices. I tried plugging the holes with tiny rectangles cut from Scotchbrite, which lets water through but keeps bugs out, but the Scotchbrite gets clogged with dirt, as Larry pointed out. I don't have a better solution--wish I did.
Re: screens for window drain holes? Reply #3 – May 06, 2019, 09:28:33 pm Thanks everyone for the info. After the elderberry beetles, the stink bugs will come, & then the carpenter ants. I temporarily have the drains covered with magic tape ( easy to remove). I will probably try taping some screens over the vents.Michael
