Back after 13 years
Hi, I used to follow this group daily and the kind members always offered excellent advice. I'm glad to be back and hope to reconnect with some old friends.
My partner, David Forness, and I had a 1999 mid bath and traveled full-time '03-'06 and then went our separate ways, although, we occasionally took trips in it after that. He passed away in Oct and I have inherited the mid bath and CR-V he towed.
He lived in it all this time, traveling only a bit. It's been sitting for a year, only moved for propane fill ups. I'm going to FL to pick it, and the car, up next week and will have enough time available to make sure it's ready to bring it back to NC. It will need new tires but I have no idea what kind. Certainly it will need much more maintenance than just and oil change but I'm not sure what.
Any advice will be greatly appreciated!!
Thank you!

Sorry to hear about David's death.
My wife and I toured your rig at the 2006 Grand Caravan, in Cheyenne . It remains one of the most interesting, highly modified LD interiors we have seen. The gypsy wagon interior was a knockout and must have taken a lot of time to complete, especially the hidden office equipment.
I believe one of you had a cabinet maker brother who built the cabinetry.
How has it held up after so many years of full timing?

You will definitely want to have the roof seams, roof vents, windows and end caps checked and probably resealed, it's old enough and has been in a moist climate for many years.
It's time.

Welcome back, Rene. Condolences on the loss of David. I also enjoyed the tour of your MB at the Golden Caravan. What fun that was. We're here to help if you need it.

Welcome back, Rene'! I too am sad to hear about David's passing. I remember seeing your coach in the summer of 2005, and the interior was so cheerful and colorful! I loved it. I've attached a couple of snapshots so others can get a taste of what you two did.

Hey Fellas,
So glad to hear from you!! It makes me smile that you all remember our colorful LD! I still adore it and am delighted to be getting it back, I only wish it wasn't under such sad circumstances. David didn't take as good of care of it as he should have. The paint has oxidized and the wear and tear from being lived in for so long has taken a toll.  But I look forward to giving her some TLC and hopefully be able to get back on the road a bit.
I have to admit I'm nervous about being responsible for everything that goes along with traveling in a motorhome - electric hook up safety, tank maintenance, backing up into campsites, towing, etc - all by myself. It's been a very long time since I even drove it. I have lots of studying to do!
I look forward to renewing friendships with my LD friends!

How did the heavy books stay in the cases going down the road?

To keep books and everything in place, there were ledges on all the shelves and we had many different ways to brace and bungee things. Everything was wedged tight with towels, pillows and such. Some things were moved to safer places. We had a system and routine that made easy to batten down in a few minutes. That was my job while David was taking care of outside things. Then he would check behind me. It was more work than many people would want to do but I never minded. We traveled full-time for 3 years and there were no rattles and rarely did anything shift. I might add that I had worked as a professional organizer and I'm OCD.

There may be a new career in this, you could be come the Marie Kondo of the RV world, tidying up LDs.

If you get sorted out you may want to drive up to WVA to the North East meet.  A bunch of the folks from the NE and SE will be in FL for a for a get to gather at a bakery.  If you're interested in either meet let me know via PM and I'll send you more information.  Also you can just do that on your own at the link: NorthEastLazyDaze@groups.io | Topics
Where are you in FL?  Perhaps someone has an idea for tires and a once over before your trip.  Welcome back.

Larry,
I'm up for the task of LD organizer! I am also trained in Feng Shui!

John,
Thank you. I'll definitely look into those get togethers. I guess I'm still a member of the NE and SE groups. I'll be in Titusville, Orlando and Palm Harbor, FL.
