porch light on left side January 14, 2019, 02:12:14 am Hello,Anyone mount one on the left side? How thick are the AL side panels? How did you find the vertical studs , assuming LD has them? In 2013 did LD use foam sheet insulation? What did you choose for material for the mounting screws?Have been unable to find a suction mounted light, so am looking to possibly fasten the light with sheet metal screws. Comments?Michael 1 Likes

Comments?MichaelDon's drilling advice is good; however, if you decide to drill, scroll through the media photo library and you will find framework photos of LDs being constructed and can see where the studs are around the door.Chris

Re: porch light on left side Reply #5 – January 14, 2019, 10:36:06 am Perhaps you might consider attaching a battery powered, or rechargeable, outdoor LED light and attaching it with high bond tape? Some of these lights throw quite a bit of light and the tape will be a strong attachment. If you decide later that you don't need it, you can warm it up with a heat gun and peel it off with no permanent damage.

The switch that activates it is one of the four just inside the coach door. It sure comes in handy when hooking up the utilities, although I confess that it's rarely used due to the fact that I'm usually settled in before sunset. And who has a "porch" on the drivers side?I'm surprised it was not included on the Anniversary model, one missing perk. So if my '04 has it and your '06 does not then it appears to have gone missing somewhere in between. 2 Likes

I'm rarely "settled in before sunset" & it also gets used at the farm sometimes, as do my rear "gremlin lights." Some of you may remember my mystery light question a couple of years ago--the white back-up lights were on fulltime, even when the engine was turned off; we (the techs who spent a whole day chasing wires & connections at Merle Kelley Ford in Chanute, KS, & I) discovered a hidden toggle switch a previous owner had installed under the mattress on the driver's side, which I apparently bumped when wrestling bedding onto the mattress a few days before heading out on that trip. Per Harold's suggestion of a " battery powered, or rechargeable, outdoor LED light" but rather than drilling, perhaps you could mount to the railing around the roof & angle the focus where you want it. Re: porch light on left side Reply #11 – January 14, 2019, 06:23:49 pm I have added four 3-watt LED exterior flood lights. Two on the passenger side, one at the coach door and another one forward. One on the rear, above the window, that illuminates the hitch area and another one on the driver's side, where the dump valves are located. With all four lights powered on, it draws 1-amp. The present lights are DIY, made with 12-volt, 3-watt MR-11exterior flood LEDs glued into PVC plumbing fittings.No new holes were drilled in the exterior of the coach for the wires, instead the wires are run up though the refrigerator vent and across the roof, routed inside of plastic exterior electrical conduct. A new, Factory light switch was installed inside the coach to control the exterior LED lights. To mount lights without drilling new holes, use either the awning mounting screws or the screws securing the sides of the roof edge caps. Replace them with stainless steel screws and fill the holes with sealant before installing screws.The four lights do a nice job of lighting up the exterior of the rig.
