The fittings on the PEX hoses (pipes) screw onto these nipples. The nipples are generally plastic and can be trimmed shorter. Larry's plugs, screw into these PEX pipes, after they are unscrewed from the defective fixture. He plugged these nipple pieces with epoxy.
