Insurance and CLUE Reports
I recently switched coverage for our auto from National General to Progressive. In the course of doing that Progressive notified me during the online quote that the final rate would be a bit higher due to a claim that I knew immediately was a mistake.

Informing them of that is pointless and this is the reason why. CLUE is the abbreviation for Comprehensive Loss Underwriting Exchange. Insurers submit claims histories to them at the end of each month for their database. It is operated by LexisNexis. To correct a mistake, dispute a claim history or have an explanation added to the record you must submit a request for a free copy of your CLUE report and you can do that online here. https://personalreports.lexisnexis.com/fact_act_disclosure.jsp

They mail you a copy. Once you've reviewed you can contact them by either email or phone to pursue whichever course of action you deem appropriate. They will contact the original submitting insurer to seek confirmation of the mistake and correct it.

In my case, I found they had swapped the claims history for two dates of loss and mistakenly marked one incorrectly in regards to coverage. Incorrect information can have a serious impact on your insurability. You might just be interested in getting a copy to check it. You can request copies of both auto coverage and personal property coverages.
