You may be a better marksman than I (although I seriously doubt it), but during a dog fight expect pure chaos and you best be damn quick! I'll have to go with the folks who advocate bear spray over bullets but I can tell you from experience that a spray bottle of Ammonia will deter a dog quite quickly.    :o   ;)

That's actually a much better idea than a gun. Much better! I just recently started hiking with bear spray after really scary multiple bluff charges by a grizz. My mind just never went to carrying it in place of a pistol on county road bike rides.
