Anyone install both black out and solar roller shades in the same window?
My new to me 2003 T/K came with drapes in the windows.  My understanding is that the original blinds fell apart and the previous owner put in the drapes.  Unfortunately, the drapes can be see-thru under certain light conditions.  I would like to put in black out roller shades from Bali ordered thru Costco.com in all the windows.  In the back three windows I would also like to add roller solar shades with 95% light blocking material.  This would allow some solar blocking when the sun is shinning thru the back windows.  I find at times that even with the dark windows the sun is too intense at times.  This will allow blocking some of that light while still being able to see out the windows.  This will also cut down on glare when working on the computer/phone. 

Has anyone attempted to installed two roller blinds in the same valance?  One would be a black out roller shade.  The other one would be the solar roller shade.   I am thinking I would attach the top black out shade to the underside of the overhead cabinet.  The solar roller shade I am unsure how to attach.  Maybe screw it to the inside of the valance or make a bracket that attaches to the underside of the cabinet that I would screw both shades into.

I have looked thru previous posts and looked at MCD shades, the reviews for them on this site were not very good but they do offer both black-out and solar shades together in the same window.  I tried the local window blind shop and they said I could not do both.  They thought the valance would not support the weight of one of the shades, but they are not familiar with Lazy Daze.  I also looked at cellular blinds with the top portion being see thru to diffuse light and the bottom being light blocking but the bottom track is too large to fit in the 1.5” space at the bottom of the valances for the two side windows.

My questions are:  Has anyone installed two roller shades in the same window?  If so how were the shades mounted?  What type of wood is inside the valance?  Has anyone who has removed a valance know if it would support the weight of a roller shade?

Our ‘15 RB came with two roller blinds installed on all the windows with the exception of the galley window and shower.

The first blind against the glass is a thick white blind that is not opaque. It does a great job of blocking the outside light intrusion and the peering eyes of all those Lazy Daze admirers.

The second blind is black and opaque allowing for good shade from the sun while allowing the occupants to still view the campground, river and mountains. It also serves as a blind to those outside from seeing in as the day wains and the occupants become more visable from outside.

At night, we pull both shades since the black shade is inside and it shields us from the white first shade. Great for movie night.

Perhaps the Mothership can lead you in the right direction as to installing the latest shades they have to offer.

My 2013 31 IB came with the shades Kent mentioned.   One daytime shade fell off on the way home.  I called the Mothership and Vince sent a replacement, along with a 'special installation tool'.  The tool was a 1/4" socket that had been ground thin at the end for reduced clearance.   Replacement was easy and saved a 1,000 mile round trip to Montclair.
You might be able to get a line on them from the Mothership.

I did call the factory.  The factory is installing MCD roller shades now.  They did not have any in stock.  They suggested the MCD factory in Texas to have them measure and install if I was in that area.  They could also order and install If I wanted to go that route.  I went ahead and special ordered the roller shades from Bali going thru Costco.com.  I will probably have to create some type of bracket that will allow one shade to be mounted below the other in the Lazy Daze installed valances.
