Re: Don't see this everyday Reply #1 – July 29, 2018, 03:02:55 pm Yup. That was pretty funny.Cats swim really well also. Some years ago we were visiting friends in a harbor and our then-kitten, Bad Little Kitty, was in the dinghy with us. He attempted to jump into their boat, but didn't quite make it, hit the hull and dropped back into the water. When he popped up he had the absolute unhappiest kitty face on! I started rowing back to our boat and Bad Little Kitty swam behind and kept up quite nicely, yelling all the way. Finally, Cyndy took pity on him (I thought it was funny) and reached in to fish him out. She was rewarded with long, bleeding scratches all the way up her bare arms as the panicky cat climbed up her arms to get back into the boat.He was mad at us and sulked all day. For years after that he loved the water, played in the sink, came into the shower with us, and stuck his paws into the dog bowl just to play. Go figure... 2 Likes
Re: Don't see this everyday Reply #2 – July 29, 2018, 04:53:22 pm I set up an automatic cat feeder for Sooty. It’s pretty cool. It even allows me to record a “cat call” when it’s time to eat. He’ll either be waiting by the bowl or come running soon after he hears his “masters voice” (Yeah...right. I know who’s in charge of his life and it certainly isn’t me). I wish I could get him to respond to...”Sooty it’s time for your bath”. That’ll never happen. One way or the other he gets his monthly bath. He’s made a few notches in my arm to prove that fact. Once in the tub he tells me what a grand time he’s having. So much for that tough guy image. He purrs like a kitten when it’s time to dry off and he shows off to the dogs...”Look at me...clean as a whistle”. Nice kitty.Kent 3 Likes
Re: Don't see this everyday Reply #3 – July 29, 2018, 05:08:44 pm Back in my cruise n booze naked boat ride days I saw something in the lake ahead of us so we putted towards it and saw it was a deer swimming across the lake which was well over two miles wide at that point. I backed off so as not to panic her and watched as she made short work of the crossing and calmly walked out of the water. Pretty impressive swimming.

Re: Don't see this everyday Reply #5 – July 29, 2018, 06:31:59 pm Wow Kent!Bad Little Kitty and Sooty could be litter mates.
Re: Don't see this everyday Reply #6 – July 29, 2018, 07:08:49 pm Sooty was one of 5 in the litter spawned in our back yard by a black and white neighborhood cat. His siblings included two male black and white’s, one gray and white female and another gray I called Mink. I gave them all names as I hand tamed them in hopes of finding them homes. They were, of course, wild cats that I trapped and neutered. They all responded well to our love and attention. Sooty is the remainder of that family. It’s a happy “tail” for him. A “long tail” for the others, best “sooted” for coffee and donuts. Here’s a shot of Sooty and Mink (so named for his luxurious fur sprouting from his ears).Kent 5 Likes
