Fun stuff Roller Shades
As part of the Lounge lizard eradication program, referred to in the future as L-LEP, I removed all the window treatments.

Let me just say that one learns a great deal about how well something is made when they try to take it apart. (and at 67 years of age finally discover the joys of an electric screw driver).

After that I took down and inspected the roller shades. They were a MESS!! Frayed, stained and carrying about a pound each of partially petrified grime. My thought was to toss ‘em and buy new ones.

However, after discovering the cost ($$$$$$$$$$$$$) of replacing them with the same quality fabrics and mechanisms, I decided to try washing them first and if that didn’t work then I’d replace them. Got nothin’ to lose by trying.

They came through fine and after re-seating them on the roller mechanism and re-rolling, they work like new!! While I did get rid of the odor and grime, they were still sporting various stains.

So, there was only one thing to do……………………………

One of my favorite pass times is to go boondocking with the dogs, do some hiking and then settle in for some roller shade rehabilitation!!   ((( Used permanent markers with alcohol based ink, like a SHARPIE, to prevent fading and so I could still wash them.))))

What a neat idea to paint the shades. I like your artistic style!

Thank you!!  Magic (what I named my bus) has many uses, its my 'lady lair', my pool house, the geriatric version of a horse, my mobile art studio and even sometimes my canvas. I love the thing like it was an animate creature!!
