Route recommendation
We just returned from a trip to the Oregon coast and I found this great scenic bypass between Yakima and Ellensburg. If you travel through this area don't miss it. Beautiful drive, great camping and a scenic desert trail.
Take route 821 instead of highlighted route on map.

We've taken WA-821 numerous times.  There's great camping along the route, some of it free.

Was new to us but from now on it's the way we will go. We stayed in the campground with the swinging bridge and took two nice hikes across the river. The lower one along the creek we took early in the morning and saw several mountain goats on the cliffs above us. The one that goes up into the desert was an afternoon watch the sunset hike and was well worth the climb.
