Grumman Gulfstream envy, contained?
So I was sitting at the table in my old '91 LD, and it hit me -- how does my RV's interior compare with a new Grumman Gulfstream... the priciest executive jet? Let's see -- wood panelling? Check. LD's use of wood and veneer is excellent, not quite Gulfstream quality, but not far behind. Sumptuous soft leather seats? Well, no. Guess we could reupholster the dining area and put in leather driver/passenger chairs... but the old fabric ones are very comfortable. The jet holds 14 passengers, and I guess the LD could also, perhaps for some sort of rolling sports party. But the Gulfstream's set up for more people, who all have cupholders and lots of places to plug in laptops and phones. Galley? LD wins going away. No propane stove on that jet! Bathroom? Theirs is more luxurious, but ours has a shower, so there. And a stewardess is optional on either vehicle, though they have to have two pilots, so we save on that.

So here's the question: given an unlimited budget, would you do an interior design makeover on your RV? Strip out all that wood, and go for plain white plastic paneling like all that Ikea furniture the trendy kids like? Rip up the rug and replace with ecologically-sensitive bamboo flooring? So many possibilities! Like current Airstreams... old on the outside, new tech inside.
Anyway, I've resisted Gulfstream envy -- so far, anyway. Have you?

Mine will stay retro just like me. Another poster had a good idea about replacing g the table with real wood though. Think I'll do that

Well, if money was no object...
I'd  lift the Lazy Daze off the E450 and set it back down on a Ford F550 diesel 4x4.
I like the Lazy Daze interior just fine the way it is, but I don't care much for the E450/V10. With the F550, I'd get the diesel with its torque and slightly better economy, good ground clearance , low range, 4x4, 19.5 G rated wheels and tires,  an engine compartment that is easy to get into and work on, and a more comfortable cab. Maybe I could get a manual transmission, but they are rare as hen's teeth.
However, money is an object, so I may as well enjoy our Lazy Daze the way it is.

Oh, man. A 4x4 LD with a monster diesel engine-- wouldn't that be fine! We wanted to drive back from Cave Creek Canyon to Tombstone over the very rugged Chiracahua Mtns on a rough twisty dirt road... only to be told by a park ranger to forget it, 4 wheel drives only. Humiliating! Will join your dream about an F-550 diesel 4x4, and nothing will stop us going anywhere, while sleeping, anyway!
